About Us

We are an award-winning Architecture and Interior Design Studio

Registered with the AIBC, AAA and OAA. Our experience and skill set lie in fostering relationships with our clients and listening to their needs

STARK is an Architecture and Interior Design studio rooted in Squamish, BC. Our team of passionate professionals is dedicated to crafting spaces that truly capture the spirit of our communities and the natural environment that surrounds them. With a commitment to innovation, we are continually adapting our styles to suit each client’s unique vision, while exploring new ideas, software, materials and processes.

Our journey began in 2016 in Vancouver and soon after we moved to the mountain town of Squamish surrounded by what inspires us most, the great outdoors. You will find our team spending their time out of the office hiking or mountain biking, any day of the week.

We are collaborators at heart, as a team and with our clients. We believe in working closely with our clients to cultivate a deep understanding of the way they live, enabling us to design spaces that foster true connection. As a full-service studio, we are actively involved in every stage of the design and construction process, from inception to project completion. This holistic approach allows us to integrate architecture and interiors seamlessly, and our team becomes an integral part of your entire journey.

Through the last decade, we have gained experience designing unique modern homes nestled within challenging landscapes in the Mountain Towns of BC. We live, play and work in these towns and hold a deep respect for our surroundings. Therefore, sustainability lies at the core of our philosophy. We strive to design out-of-the-box energy-efficient buildings that adhere to a minimal ecological footprint.

A hands-on designer, with skills in Architecture and Makerlabs, Jacob’s all-round ability brings a creative curiosity to the team. Currently working towards his Intern Architect accreditation, as well as providing fresh baked goods to the team every Monday, Jacobs’s passion for skiing is soon to be supplemented with a future love of biking.

A recent graduate with a background in Sustainable design. Kendra is the boss of code knowledge and details whilst being a Revit Ninja. A Squamish local with a love of bikes and skis means the team has one more person to keep up with on the trails.

Finally, an Englishman that likes Rugby, and even better, Golf. We could leave it at that, to be honest, but really, Luke's depth of knowledge in his decade-plus of multifamily, planning, and complex projects adds a huge amount of experience to the team. If that's not enough he rips on a bike AND has the chillest / not chill dog in the office.

Hailing from the UK, Laura has experience in a range of offices including Architectural work in Australia. Her attention to detail and design skills are evident in each project from single family homes to large multi-family projects. The creator of “work-out Wednesdays” and holding the fastest Marathon time in the office, Laura is also building her biking skills on the local trails.

A registered Architect in New Zealand, Anna has an array of experience both in in Vancouver and at home. (I ran out of Oz vs. Kiwi references). Annas residential experience produced a NZ Institute of Architects award and her experience on multi-family and community projects in the lower mainland has her leading a team on multi-family projects. Approaches biking with the mantra “if I can ski down it, I can bike down it.”

Genevieve brings a passionate understanding of Architectural design and construction to the firm. Her modelling and spatial design skills continue to influence projects and she is currently project lead on several important custom homes. She infuses her Interior Design passion into a range of different projects. As well as being a bike coach and a back country split-boarder, she is also a mean barista.

With extensive multi-family and large multi-use development experience from the UK and high quality design practice in BC, Luke brings experience in a range of projects. English, but doesn’t like rugby, instead he’s more comfortable persuading colleagues to go on traverses. He has bonus points for now being pressured into buying an expensive mountain bike.

As local as a local can be in the Sea to Sky, Madie's passion for Interior Design, sustainability, and the outdoors makes her a natural fit as a team member. A boss with communication, always proactive, and a mean boat captain, with an unusually extensive knowledge of the Howe Sound and Islands. To that, we say Aye Aye Captain!

Captain America joins us with a wealth of experience in large multi-family and cutting edge construction projects in the U.S. and B.C. His passion for climbing and hiking has brought him to Squamish. A side interest in Gravel Biking has the potential to cause all team members to buy an “extra” bike.

The real boss who actually ensures everything runs smoothly in the studio. Nicole leads the firm in strategy and policies as well as maintaining client and consultant relationships. Forced to go snowboarding after a two year break, she’s currently being pressured into purchasing a bike / sled / horse.

With amazing skills in detailing, drawing creation, and coordination, Maddie is the only member of staff to have to start their first day of work dressed as a pirate. (So far.) Given that she made it through our boating day on her first day, and adds a ton of skill and tenacity to our team, she's a keeper.

Originally from Bonnie Scotland, Katie is finally able to understand David’s Scottish jokes and sayings, much to the relief of others in the office. Katie’s background spans single family homes and large scale multi-family, bridging Interiors and Architecture; a unique ability. Although there’s no snow in Scotland, her skiing skills are dialled.

The nicest kiwi, I mean Australian you’ll ever meet. A background in Project Management with an Architectural flavour in Australia gives Eddy a unique skillset in our single family residential projects. An awesome skier, with double credibility for still riding a hardtail bike.

Did we have a quota for New Zealanders? Clearly not, and quickly finding out that you can never have enough Kiwis. Wills's background in single-family homes and complex projects gives the office another dose of experience and insight. Biker – check, Rugby – check, Brother owns a brewery?! – check.

The nicest Australian, I mean kiwi you’ll ever meet. Megan joins us with her extensive background in residential design, having worked in the Sea to Sky corridor for five years with experience in New Zealand prior to this. An ace biker, at home with doing laps in the bike park and Alpine rides.

Attention to detail and passion for Architecture is as strong as Melany’s interest in the outdoors and adventures. Bike packing, climbing, hiking etc etc. Shares double credibility with Eddy for still rocking a hardtail.

Josie’s Interior Design has taken her throughout the Sea to Sky and beyond. A background in detailed millwork compliments her holistic approach to Interiors, blending with the Architecture of the project. A skillset in high-performance luxury houses, as well as multi-family residential and commercial interiors, brings a wealth of experience to the team. If that wasn’t enough, she’s also an incredible snowboarder with a side hustle as a chocolatier.

Lea joins us from out east where the food is better but the snow is worse. Lea’s background in residential design and incredible presentation and visualization skills has brought a range of new and exciting methods for us to explore design through. Her attention to detail and creativity shows through in each design. As is tradition, her skiing skills are out of this world, leaving most in the dust.
