PREFABRICATED HOMEPemberton, B.C. - 2018
The clients purchased an incredible view lot in Pemberton, with 180 degree views of Mt.Currie to the south. The amazing views also exposed the house to the full unshaded power of the summer sun, as well as the cold winter winds. This, along with a condensed building schedule, which anticipated a build starting in the winter months, led us to investigate pre-fabricating the panels of the building.
Our design focused on large open living spaces on the upper floor, with a deep deck and overhang, to provide sufficient shading in the summer months. On the lower floor, bedrooms and a rec room would benefit from the winter sun, whilst remaining cool in the summer months.
The panels chosen were from Factor Panels, based in Squamish. The wall build up is conventionally framed panels with blown insulation. On the exterior, a 2" continous layer of one of our favourite products, woodfibre, was preinstalled to provide additional thermal and sound protection. Panels were lifted into place in a matter of days, just before the snow started to lie.
With a thermal envelope completed, the contractor can now push on with the interiors during the winter months. Completition is expected in early summer 2019.
